The perimeter is the other half. External bait stations at intervals around the building, properly numbered, mapped and serviced on schedule, intercept the animals moving toward the site rather than waiting until they are inside the racking. On a large site that perimeter line is the single most valuable part of the programme.

Those findings are what actually reduce the risk, and a programme that never raises any is not being run properly.

What frequency of servicing does our site need?
It depends on the risk profile rather than the floor area. Food manufacturing and cold storage are normally monthly and sometimes fortnightly. Dry goods distribution is often six to eight weekly. General warehousing without food can be quarterly. We set the frequency at the initial survey based on what the site handles, how the docks operate and what the perimeter looks like, and we adjust it on trend rather than leaving it fixed.

Usually one of four things: a station map that does not match what is actually on site, service records with gaps in the schedule, findings raised repeatedly with no evidence of action, or no trend analysis at all.
